Diversity Figures
Queensland is a dynamic and diverse society with a great variety of cultures, languages and religions. Multiculturalism is a strategy for all Australians. It recognises the unique status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the original owners and custodians of Australian lands and waters, and the rich cultural mix of society gained through immigration.
The following brochure and poster are an update of the publication released in 1999 and provide a statistical snapshot of the diversity of Queensland’s population. They contain Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2001 Census of Population and Housing data and can be accessed from the Multicultural Affairs Queensland.
