Queensland Government Population Projections to 2056: Queensland and Statistical Divisions
These revised population projections update those of 2006 and take into account new population data based on the results of the 2006 Census of Population and Housing and new intelligence on fertility, mortality and migration. Continued high net interstate and overseas migration and a rising number of births will contribute to the population increase.
The publication, Queensland Government population projections to 2056: Queensland and statistical divisions, 2008 edition, contains summary projections and assessments of the changing composition, distribution and location-specific impacts behind the information.
The revised projections were developed through the Queensland Government Population Projection Advisory Group (comprising demographic experts from across Government and from the University of Queensland).
