Census 2006
The National Census of Population and Housing is undertaken by the Australian Government’s Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) every five years and it is vital to ensure that Census counts accurately reflect the entire population. The Census information is used by Governments and the community for planning, service delivery and research.
Queensland Government Awareness Campaign
Queensland Treasury’s Office of Economic and Statistical Research conducted a state-wide awareness campaign leading up to the 2006 Census to encourage participation in the Census, particularly people from rural and remote, Indigenous, high-rise and gated communities.
The campaign featured the theme Count me in and provided a Queensland focus to complement the national campaign being undertaken by the ABS. Visit the Queensland Government Awareness Campaign pages for full details on the campaign.
Census data products
Following the release of the Census data in 2007, OESR will coordinate a project to incorporate this data into our current range of resources. Further opportunities for product development and enhancement are currently being explored to ensure a range of suitable small-area statistical products are available.
